At the turn of the century a rich brewing heritage flourished in America. Hundreds of small town breweries dotted the American landscape, each diligently serving its local community with a distinct and diverse variety of handcrafted beers. But Prohibition, World War II and modern technological advances crippled the country's craft-brewing industry. Brewing traditions, handed down for generations, were replaced by the mass production and distribution of cheaper beer products.
The late 1970's marked a long awaited rebirth of craft-brewing in America. Small town microbreweries reemerged in response to the public's demand for a larger variety of better tasting beers. Today, the country is involved in a microbrewery beer revolution as 1000's of microbrewries fight to regain generations of consumers lost to the mediocrity of mass produced beers. At Hog's Head Beer of the Month Club we hope you'll join us and take part in this long awaited revolution.
