Alexander Valley Vinyards Syrah 1999 - USA

CLUB:
S / RO

A sexy, lush, wine, Alexander Valley Vineyard 1999 Syrah is filled with scents of wood smoke, black fruits, and vanilla. Masculine and quite dense, this extroverted charmer offers a feminine side as well. Look for substantial strength and tannin while it remains exceptionally well balanced. We were pleased to find this Syrah's tannins neither aggressive nor excessive. Note a regal purple robe and a long finish that lingers gently, we found this Syrah to have everything going for it, including a bold flavor and an expressive, textured feel. We'd suggest serving it at cool room temperature (60°-65°) or at cellar temperature (55°-60°) depending upon the weather. The warmer the weather, the cooler we'd suggest you serve it.

Fattori & Graney Pinot Grigio 2000 - Italy

Galileo once stated, "Wine is sunlight held together by water." And one of our panel members exclaimed, "Oh, but what water this is!". Whether it's the clear, limpid appearance of Fattori & Graney 2000 Pinot Grigio or simply its marvelous quaffability, one thing holds certain: it possesses the eminent ability to please! We found it as fresh as the Alpine breezes that temper the Veneto, this Pinot Grigio combines summer sun with a firm headiness. Our panel noted that it exuded all of the telltale flavors that one would expect of a true Pinot Grigio: quince, sprightly apple, liquid stones, and a dry citrus finish. Fattori & Graney has truly captured all the essential charm of this particular varietal. We'd suggest serving this enchanting Pinot Grigio moderately chilled. Enjoy!

Casa Lapostolle Cabernet Sauvignon 1997 - California

CLUB:
RO

There seems to be a certain color, a deep purple regal robe that exudes character, strength, and charm, that is evident in the best Cabernet Sauvignons. And certainly Casa Lapostolle 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon is no exception. Matching the visual delight offered by this wine is an entire set of gustatory and olfactory pleasures: cedar, blackberry, cassis, spices, and tobacco. A hypothetical blend of first-rate California Cabernet Sauvignon and good Bordeaux is packed into this medium weight Cab. Requiring only 15-20 minutes of airing prior to serving, the 1997 Casa Lapostolle Cabernet Sauvignon is a real crowd pleaser. We'd suggest serving it at traditional room temperature.

Chateau De Chasseloir Mouszadet 1999 - France

CLUB:
WO

Remaining true to its breeding and very old vines, Chateau de Chasseloir's 1999 Chasseloir Mouszadet is both dry and rich. We found this wine to possess several layers of fruit, intertwined with mineral overtones. In the glass, this Muscadet offers a clear, vibrant color and an amplifying nose. The Chateau de Chasseloir is thankfully full-flavored on the palate (rather uncommon for Muscadet) and it offers a subtle complexity which lingers on in a lingering finish. We'd suggest drinking it moderately chilled, paired with the freshest seafood money can buy.
