Kenwood Vineyards Sonoma Pinot Noir 1999 - California

CLUB:
S / RO

The cool climate of California's Russian River Valley make it one of just four regions in the state where the delicate vines of Pinot Noir prosper. Made from vineyards where the ocean’s cooling influence creates the ideal conditions for growing the varietal, Kenwood Russian River Valley's 1999 Pinot Noir offers enticing scents of vanilla and cherry, married with the delicate scent of an orchard in bloom. We found this medium bodied Pinot Noir to follow through with a fine array of plum, wild berry, and cherry flavors. Just over 10% of the fruit was whole berry fermented, preserving the bright Pinot Noir fruit. The entire cepage is was then aged in French oak barrels for a year and thus you can really enjoy this delicious wine immediately with a little breathing time. If disciplined, you could also lay it down for two to three years for added nuance. We'd suggest serving it cool, but not chilled.

Torres Vina Sol 1999 - Spain

CLUB:
S / WO

Grass, lemon oil, and spring flowers mark the enticing bouquet of this flavorful wine. Rich in natural fruit and savor, the Torres' 1999 Vina Sol delivers a marriage of several flavors without ever seeming to be overbearing or flabby. You'll note that it has already developed a distinct mid-palate and soft succulent center, highlighted by a lingering finish comprised of of fennel, citrus, and blooming meadowlands. Fully ripe, but never sugary or sweet, we found it to typify the great strides in white wine production made in Spain’s greatest producer. Our hats off to Torres for offering a pure, delicate rendering of the native Catalan varietal Parellada. Certainly, the Torres Vina Sol is testament to the quality capable of being produced in Spain when growers limit their yields and plant appropriate varietals at high altitudes.

Wilson Polish Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 1996 - Australia

CLUB:
RO

The Wilson Polish Hill's 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon, cloaked in it's deep crimson red robe, prepares those that await it a variety of flavors. We found its complex nose perfumed with aromas of black currants, violets, spice, and hints of leather. Its palate offers excellent and equally complex depth with the telltale licorice, black currant, and spice of Cabernet predominating. The wine gains a pleasant earth tone and further complexity from the addition of 10% Merlot which nicely balances the flamboyant fruit of Cabernet. Look for soft, yet dry tannin notes in a lingering finish hinting of leather, berry, and spice. We'd suggest drinking it now with 30 minutes to an hours of breathing time.

Bouchaine Carneros Chardonnay 1997 - California

CLUB:
WO

A brightly robed, jubilant wine, Bouchaine Carneros's 1997 Chardonnay exhibits a fresh and foreword fruitiness in its nose and flavor. We found it subtle, easy drinking, and yet quite sophisticated. This beautifully balanced Chardonnay offers remnants of pineapple, coconut, and other tropical fruits. Augmented by just the right amount of vanilla and caramel from barrel ageing and excellent structure, you'll find that the Bouchaine Carneros Chardonnay finishes perfectly, leaving you wishing that you had another glass.
